The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the editors of The Times Record and reporter Daneem Kim for the article about our Fire Department. As Daneem reported, we are proud to “be there” for all the residents and the visitors to Georgetown.
In addition, the Department sends out a thank you to our Georgetown fishermen for their invaluable service in the past, as well as the future. Since we are an island community with several outlying islands, we find some of the Department’s calls are island or water related. Through the years, our fishermen have always been there when the call has gone out for help. Whether it is on the water or to reach one of the islands, they have been there.
We appreciate being recognized and are thankful we can continue to be of service to the Town of Georgetown and our neighboring communities.
Justin Lodolce,
Chief,
Georgetown Volunteer Fire Deptartment

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
