BANGOR (AP) — A 35- year-old Bronx, New York man was sentenced to serve just over three years behind bars for his role in a large-scale trafficking ring that brought drugs into Waterville.
The Morning Sentinel reports Anthony Gomez was sentenced to serve three years and five months in prison Monday in federal court in Bangor. He was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel Casey says Gomez was arrested in the culmination of an 18-month fugitive investigation led by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Gomez is the 23rd person convicted in the federal investigation into a trafficking operation that brought prescription pills and other drugs, including cocaine, from New York to the Waterville area.
Prosecutors say Gomez helped smuggle the drugs between January and March 2012.
