The St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry volunteers wish to extend gratitude to those who contribute to its mission of offering provisions for the food insecure. There are many individuals, too numerous to mention, and often anonymous, who provide supplies and monetary support. We continue to give thanks to and for you.

We particularly want to give a shout out to the town of Wiscasset which continues to and has increased support of the HYS. Also making a generous donation are the Concrete Mixers of the local Masonic Lodge. Finally, we continue to be grateful to Midcoast Hunger Prevention Project for the passing on of their used cooler. With its incorporation into the workings of the Shelf, we are better able to accept, store, and disburse foods that require refrigeration.

The support of these groups and others are necessary to accommodate the ever-increasing numbers seeking the help of local food pantries. If any wish to donate to St. Philip’s effort, please send those donations to the Help Yourself Shelf, c/o St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, ME 04578. If there are those who would like to become involved in the day-to-day functioning of the the pantry, please contact the church at 882-7184, leaving a message and a return number.

For those in need of supplies, the Shelf is open each Thursday at 5 PM. It is important for people to arrive by 4:30 to sign up and to examine the choices available. Any needing emergency food, should call the church at 882- 7184, and someone will be in touch.
