MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: We see the signs all over the region — “Hiring, Inquire Within” and in the online job listings as well. The spring season is beginning to take shape around Maine, providing an opportune time for job seekers looking for work.

The Department of Labor’s network of 12 CareerCenters will sponsor or participate in several career fairs. Hundreds of employers will be hiring for both permanent and seasonal positions.

In our region, the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber, Southern Midcoast CareerCenter and Coastal Counties Workforce are partnering to bring businesses with job openings and job seekers together.

Are you one of the businesses seeking employees? If so, you’ll be pleased to know you can participate with an exhibit in the Southern Midcoast Hiring Fair. The date is Wednesday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2 Columbus Drive in Brunswick.

As this is a hiring event, to participate employers must have an active job order in the Maine Job Bank that is open throughout the job fair time frame. For information on how to create an account and post your open positions at no charge, go to http://gateway.maine.gov/dol/mjb/employer/employerWelcome.aspx.

The fee to exhibit at the hiring fair is $95 per exhibit space, payable to the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber. We have 40 exhibit spaces, so reservations will be on a first come basis. Employers, please make your reservation by calling John Wagner, Maine CareerCenter, at (207) 373-04010.

And if you are a job seeker who needs to update their resume or practice their interviewing skills, contact the Midcoast CareerCenter for no-cost help. They are located at 275 Bath Road, Brunswick. The website for CareerCenters in the state is www.mainecareercenter.com
