BRUNSWICK

It seems that winter has had a rather difficult time actually getting going, with temperatures occasionally hitting 50 degrees.

Hopefully, with temperatures heading down this week and snow starting to accumulate, we may get a little winter playtime in yet.

Skiing is my favorite winter sport, but I have less enthusiasm for the price tag. With daily lift tickets at most major ski/board resorts heading towards $100 a day, looking for ways to get more skiing in for less money is always my mission.

Here is what I’ve found.

Shawnee Peak

Shawnee leads the pack with some really great deals.

Sunday afternoon is $29.99 for a lift ticket from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Add rentals for just $20. Note — This price is not valid this upcoming Sunday, Valentine’s Day. All Day Sunday — Ski for just $39 when you present your previous day’s lift ticket from another ski mountain. This is a 1-to-1 exchange.

Monday Carload Days —

Get here before 11a.m. and everyone in your car skis or rides until 9 p.m. for just $92. There is a limit of eight persons per car.

Monday Night Madness — Ski 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for just $13. There is a slightly higher price, $19, this upcoming Monday.

Night time — On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, “Love the Night life” for only $25! Night skiing starts at the early time of 3:30 p.m. Add rentals for just $14. Not valid Feb. 16-18.

Thursday — Men’s Day! Men ski or ride for just $40. Add Rentals for $20. Discount not valid Feb. 18.

Sugarloaf

Every Monday Sugarloaf releases an exclusive Hot Deal. The offers are unique and deliver amazing value, but they’re only available for a limited time and in limited quantities. They leave them up on their website until they’re sold out, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Check it out at sugarloaf.com.

Also, Sugarloaf has some other great deals:

Maine Days — Maine residents can ski or ride for just $43 every Wednesday of the season except for Feb. 17. Plus all trail fees at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center are 50-percent every Wednesday (except Feb. 17). Valid Maine ID is required.

Maine Family Sunday — Each member of a Maine Family can ski or ride for just $43. A family is defined as a minimum of one adult and one child under 18. Valid Maine ID is required.

Sunday River

For just a few dollars more than the cost of a lift ticket, you can purchase a Frequent Skier Card that includes one free ticket, valid any day this season, plus big savings on tickets every day.

Best of all, it’s valid at three great resorts and you’ll have access to the longest season in New England.

With the Frequent Skier Card, you’ll save on lift tickets every day at Sunday River, Loon Mountain and Sugarloaf.

The cost of a 2015/16 Frequent Skier Card is $105. Get one free lift ticket to use any day of the winter season. Save $25 on tickets midweek and $15 on weekends and holidays all season.

The Frequent Skier Card is valid only on one-day, fullaccess lift tickets purchased at the resort. Savings can’t be combined with any other promotions or discounts including pre-purchased tickets. One discount per day. Card is non-transferable, and an ID is required for ticket purchase.

Mt. Abram

Saturday Night Skiing — From 4-7 p.m., the cost is just $10. Tubing (Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday/Vacation Days 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) for all ages is $15, and is free for season pass holders.

Weekly Specials — $25 Thrifty Thursday. How do you beat this price for a mountain of this size? Seriously a great deal.

Car Load Friday — This cost just $89.

Promotional coupons and passes will not be accepted either of these days and can’t be combined with special prices.

There you have it! For any last minute deals, check out your favorite areas online and see what they may try to entice you with.

Get out there and enjoy this winter bliss!
