Garden Club Plant Sale

The Scarborough Garden Club’s annual plant sale will be held 8-11 a.m. rain or shine on Saturday, May 28, at the historic Hunnewell House off Black Point Road. This popular event includes uncommon and traditional perennials, annuals and vegetable seedlings.

Summer Concerts in the Park

Sponsored by Scarborough Community Chamber and Scarborough Community Services, this series of free evening concerts takes place at the gazebo at Memorial Park. In the event of rain, concerts will be held inside at the high school auditorium. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Concerts also include 50/50 raffles and concessions offered by the Scarborough Rotary Club. See www.scarboroughcommunitychamber.com for more.

Summerfest

Summerfest is a Friday-night event that is traditionally held on the third Friday in August. This year’s festival will be held on Aug. 19, 4-10 p.m., at the sports field complex at the high school. The event features a road race, live entertainment, food, games and more. In addition, the evening finishes off with a spectacular fireworks display. Maine Crafts Guild Scarborough Show

This annual event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18, at Camp Ketcha, 336 Black Point Road. Hours on Saturday are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This show features about 50 of Maine’s finest artisans. Farmers Markets

There are two farmers markets in Scarborough. One is held in the winter at the Highland Avenue Greenhouse and Farm Market, 109 Highland Ave, each Sunday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., from November to April. The winter market includes specialty winter greens, baked goods and more. The summer market is held each Sunday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., from June to October, in the town hall parking lot. Winterfest

Winterfest is held in mid-January, generally the Saturday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, at the municipal ice rink and high school fields complex. The event includes a variety of events and contests and a king and queen are also chosen in three age categories. Call Community Services at 730-4150 for more information.

The Scarborough Farmers Market is open June through October and features locally grown produce and other specialty goods.
