BRUNSWICK — Leila B. Fournier, 83, resident of Brunswick, formerly of Freeport died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Horizons Living and Rehabilitation Center in Brunswick. She was born June 27, 1932 in Brunswick a daughter of Alden and Ethel (Lakeland) Bragdon. Leila attended the Growstown School and graduated from Brunswick High School with the Class of 1950.

Leila has worked in various local businesses including Downeast Pharmacy in Freeport, Freeport Shoe Shop and had also served as a bookkeeper for St. Jude’s Parish in Freeport for 18 years while also serving as bookkeeper for her husband’s contracting business.

She was an active communicant of St. Jude’s Parish in Freeport who served as a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the church choir, was a past president of the parish council and had served on most of the church commissions. Leila also served for many years on the board of directors for Growstown Cemetery Association.

She enjoyed spending free time travelling, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with family. Leila also enjoyed volunteering her time knitting catnip toys for the Coastal Humane Society for many years.

Leila was predeceased by her parents, her husband

Romeo J. Fournier and three sisters,

Betty Albee, Helen Roy and Edna Brooks.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held in May in St. Jude’s Church, Freeport and will be announced in a later edition of this newspaper. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Leila’s memory to the Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Road, Brunswick, ME 04011 or to St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 134 Main Street, Freeport, ME 04032. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
