BATH

In addition to the reconstruction of the Bath viaduct on Route 1, other local transportation projects in store for the city include the Centre Street Connection Bridge, which is due for a deck replacement in the spring of 2017.

The bridge currently carries Congress Avenue traffic over Route 1 in Bath. The two-span structure, originally constructed in 1966, has deteriorated due to concrete issues and plow damage to railing and joints at the end of the bridge.

In November, project manager Joel Kittredge said the project was expected to take place between March and November 2017, though the length of the project could vary from 90 to 120 days depending on traffic maintenance.

Other upcoming transportation projects in the area include:

• Construction work on the New Meadows Bridge, which overlooks New Meadows River. The bridge is located on the Bath- Brunswick town line. The project is expected to be worked on this year and estimated funding is at $1,255,000.
