KITTERY (AP) — The nuclear-powered attack submarine USS Providence is getting a new skipper.
Cmdr. Tony Grayson will relinquish command of the submarine to Cmdr. Jason Grizzle during a change of command today.
The submarine is currently at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, where it arrived in December for maintenance, repair and modernization.
The sub is homeported in Groton, Connecticut. Commissioned in 1985, it’s the fifth ship to be named for Providence, Rhode Island.
