A Standish man who was being sought on warrants led police on a mile-long foot chase through woods before being cornered Wednesday morning in an abandoned trailer.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Jacorey Vincent Monterio, 22, of Watchic Road in Standish surrendered peacefully.

Monterio was arrested and charged with violating his probation and for an outstanding warrant charging him with aggravated assault with a knife.

Lt. Thomas Williams said that when deputies arrived at 45 Watchic Road in Standish around 8:15 a.m., they heard Monterio escape through a rear window of the home. A police dog was brought in to track Monterio, along a trail that took the dog more than a mile through a wooded area and across Pequawket Trail.

He was found hiding in an abandoned trailer.
