SKOWHEGAN (AP) — A bail hearing has been set for a woman charged with murder in connection with her newborn son’s death in Maine.
The Morning Sentinel reports 20-year-old Kayla Stewart is charged with killing the baby on or around Dec. 31. She didn’t enter a plea when she appeared in court Jan. 25.
Stewart is currently being held without bail. A hearing is scheduled for Friday in Somerset County Superior Court in Skowhegan.
Police arrested Stewart on Jan. 22. Police found the remains of the baby in the garage of a Fairfield home Stewart shared with her boyfriend.
Details about the cause of the baby’s death haven’t been released by authorities.
Her attorney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
