GREENVILLE (AP) — Maine’s warm winter weather has claimed another casualty.
Organizers of the 10th annual Plum Creek Wilderness Sled Dog Race have canceled the Saturday event altogether after an earlier postponement because of warm weather and rain in the Greenville area.
The race is organized by the Wilderness Sled Dog Racing Association, a Greenville nonprofit.
The governing board said trail conditions were unsafe on the 70-mile and 30-mile race courses, and there’s no forecast for significant snowfall in the near future.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way.
