AUGUSTA (AP) — Three of Gov. Paul LePage’s administration nominees for the Land for Maine’s Future board have been approved by the Maine Senate.
The Portland Press Herald reports that Bob Meyers of Bath, Harry Ricker of Turner and Fred Bucklin of Appleton were approved unanimously. They will fill three of the six seats reserved for members of the public.
Meyers is currently executive director of the Maine Snowmobile Association. Ricker, a farmer, operates Ricker Hill Orchards. Bucklin runs Bucklin Appraisal LLC in Maine and Massachusetts.
The Land for Maine’s Future board handles the state’s requests for funding land conservation projects.
Applicants must match state dollars with either private or federal money. All conservation projects must include public access to the land for recreational endeavors.
