AUGUSTA (AP) — An Augusta man who prosecutors say intentionally hit a box truck head-on with his car has pleaded guilty to charges in the Manchester crash.
The Kennebec Journal reports 38-year-old Christopher Corliss entered the plea Monday in Augusta to aggravated assault and aggravated criminal mischief.
Corliss entered the Co- Occurring Disorders and Veterans Court, a program for people with mental health and substance abuse problems. Corliss can avoid jail time if he fulfills his obligations there.
Prosecutors say a state trooper saw Corliss cross the center line on Route 202 and drive directly into the path of a truck on Dec. 10, 2014. They say Corliss told the trooper he was attempting to kill himself and intentionally hit the truck.
Prosecutors say the truck driver suffered foot and rib injuries.
