SKOWHEGAN (AP) — Police say the driver of a car nearly collided with a police cruiser in a high-speed chase through Somerset County.
The Morning Sentinel reports 20-year-old Ryan Galouch of Belgrade was charged Sunday with criminal speeding, aggravated reckless conduct and other offenses. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney and a phone number couldn’t be found for him.
Police say a Skowhegan officer attempted to stop Galouch after he was speeding.
They say Galouch almost collided with the officer’s cruiser before driving away.
Galouch allegedly reached speeds of at least 100 mph during the chase through Skowhegan, Canaan and Pittsfield before he was stopped on Interstate 95.
Police say Galouch identified himself as a Belgrade firefighter. He was arrested and taken to the Somerset County Jail in East Madison.
