From the Journal Tribune: “The ‘Drama & Dessert’ benefit for the Keep ME Warm heating assistance fund was a great success at Thornton Academy Saturday night. The event, coordinated by local Representatives Don Pilon and Linda Valentino along with Sen. Barry Hobbins, combined the high school’s one act play with homebaked desserts, with all proceeds going toward local fuel assistance.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “The mobile office of “Medicare Alert” will be in the Biddeford-Saco area next Monday through Wednesday according to Raymond F. Savage, North Berwick, director of the project to sign up those over 65 in the federal Medicare program. The project director, who is also head of the York County Community Action Corp. with headquarters in Sanford, said that the object of the drive is reach all of those eligible for the Medicare hospital and medical assistance plan who are eligible but who have not already enrolled in Social Security.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The shoe blacking parlors at 250 Main street next to Reilly & McFarlane bakery were broken into some time during the night and many articles such as gold chains, diamond pins and other articles given away in connection with a punch board were taken. Entrance to the shop was affected by breaking out a pane of glass in a window next to the bakery. The break was discovered this morning by the Greeks who run the shop. The burglars left no clue for the police to work on.”
