BIDDEFORD — Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC), a member of MaineHealth, recently accepted a one-year grant of $15,000 for Let’s Go! York County and a two-year grant of $20,000 for CarePartners of York County Prescription Assistance Program from the United Way of York County 2016 Community Investment.
This investment will help SMHC to continue the implementation of Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 in York County as part of its mission to keep the communities it serves healthy. SMHC is working with the Let’s Go! 5-2-1- 0 program to combat the childhood obesity epidemic, a serious challenge in society that can set children up for a lifetime of chronic health issues.
These funds will support Let’s Go! York County’s prevention efforts in communities throughout York County, from Saco to Acton to Kittery.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
