PORTLAND (AP) — The Mercy Hospital president and CEO who oversaw the opening of a state-of-the-art hospital and assisted in a merger with Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems is leaving the post.
Officials said Monday that Eileen Skinner has resigned effective March 31.
M. Michelle Hood, president and CEO of Brewerbased Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, praised her dedication to the Mercy mission and wished her well.
Skinner took over the post in 2002 and soon after planning began for a new campus and hospital that opened in 2008. She also oversaw a partnership with EMHS in 2012 after failing to reach an agreement to sell Mercy to Boston-based Steward Health Care.
With the merger complete, she’s ready to move on but agreed to stay through month’s end to finalize a new strategic plan.
