From the Journal Tribune: “Residents and visitors can expect to pay a little bit more to spend time on the beach this summer. On Tuesday night, the City Council voted to increase the price of parking permits for the city beaches. New prices will go into effect as of this coming June 1. The price for the day permit, for both residents and nonresidents, will be increased from $5 to $10. Season permits will increase fro $50 to $75. The price increase was initially discussed as a way to bring extra revenue to off-set the cost of keeping the beaches clean and in good repair.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “It’s not every car owner who can boast that his vehicle has been washed with spring water but after tonight, persons doing business with Donald Briggs, can make such a claim. Briggs, the proprietor of a Saco Avenue garage, has announced that his just completed car wash, using waster from a spring-fed well, will be open for business tonight.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Baby week, so known through the country wherever there are women’s clubs or wherever the child welfare movement has come to the direct notice and interest of the people, is being recognized by the Women’s Educational and Industrial Union of Saco with some very effectual work as the result of a systematic planning.”
