MONTREAL (AP) — Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being hit on the side of the head by a teammate, overshadowing the Canadiens’ 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.

The Canadiens said Subban was taken to a hospital for further testing and that he had normal movement in his extremities.

Subban was injured late in the third period when teammate Alexei Emelin ran into him, knocking him on the side of the head with his back side while retrieving the puck in Montreal’s corner. Subban was nearly motionless on the ice for about 10 minutes while doctors and trainers tended to him.

Alex Galchenyuk scored twice for the Canadiens, Torrey Mitchell added a goal, and Mike Condon made 36 saves for his 17th victory of the season, best among rookie goaltenders.

Panthers 6, Senators 2

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Jaromir Jagr scored twice and Vincent Trocheck had a goal and three assists to lead Florida.

Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal and an assist, and Aaron Ekblad and Jussi Jokinen also scored for the Panthers. Roberto Luongo stopped 26 shots.

Oilers 2, Wild 1

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) —

Rookie sensation Connor McDavid scored the go-ahead goal with 7:29 left, leading Edmonton to the win.

With Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon trying to slow his rush, the 19-year-old McDavid reached out and snapped the puck underneath goalie Darcy Kuemper’s arm to give the Oilers the lead. McDavid has four goals in the last six games.

Red Wings 3, Jets 2

DETROIT (AP) — Justin Abdelkader scored the tiebreaking goal late in the third period to help Detroit snap a three-game losing streak.

Dylan Larkin and Jonathan Ericsson also scored and Petr Mrazek stopped 23 shots for the Red Wings.

On the go-ahead score, Tomas Tatar intercepted Myers’ pass behind the net and passed to Abdelkader in the slot, who shot the puck top shelf for his 17th of the season with 4:36 remaining.

Devils 3, Sharks 0

SAN JOSE Calif. (AP) — Keith Kinkaid made 30 saves for his second career shutout and Travis Zajac scored twice to lead New Jersey.

Devante Smith-Pelly and Zajac scored on successive shots for New Jersey that came more than 18 minutes apart as the Devils opened a three-game California swing by winning for the third time in 11 games. Zajac also added an empty-net goal to help New Jersey match last season’s win total of 32 to move within five points of Pittsburgh for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Martin Jones made 13 saves but the Sharks were shut out for the fifth time this season. San Jose lost for just the second time in seven games and remained four points behind first-place Los Angeles and three in back of Anaheim in the Pacific Division.
