AMHERST, Mass. — The Bowdoin College women’s basketball team shot just 26 percent from the floor in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday evening at Amherst College, falling to Rochester, 60-53 after a late run came up short.

The Yellowjackets moved to 23-5 on the season, while the Polar Bears finished their campaign at 22-7.

Behind nine first-quarter points from Lauren Deming, Rochester came out firing and put Bowdoin in an early 19-12 hole. Rachel Norton banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the lead to four heading into the second frame, but the Yellowjackets took command and reeled off 12 straight points to begin the quarter. After a lay-up from Kelsey Hurley at the five-minute mark, the score was 31-15.

Bowdoin hit just 2-of-16 from the field in the quarter, scoring four points to Rochester’s 16.
