SACO — A seaweed harvester was rescued after his boat capsized in the Saco River Sunday.

The Saco Fire Department received a call around 2 p.m. about a boat in distress near Ram Island in Saco Bay.

Deputy Chief David Pendleton said Tim Harder of Saco was tending to his seaweed, when a line got caught in his propeller, and his engine malfunctioned.

The boat capsized in the mouth of the Saco River, and Harder was able to hold on to it until the fire department arrived and rescued him.

Pendleton said Harder was not injured. The Saco harbor master recovered the vessel and brought it to shore.

“It was a good result,” said Pendleton.
