Any avid, or even novice, gardener itching to get a jump-start on this year’s vegetable patch will find inspiration from local gardening columnist Tom Atwell, who is hosting a workshop on Thursday, March 31, at 6 p.m., at the South Portland Public Library. Atwell lives in Cape Elizabeth. He first became a “serious gardener” in the mid-1970s and is happy to share his expertise.
