BREMEN — Ronald A. Peabody, 81, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on the afternoon of March 20 at Coves Edge on the Miles Campus in Damariscotta. Born in Lewiston, Maine on March 28, 1934, he was the son of Allie E. and Rowena (Greenleaf) Peabody.

Ron attended Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High in 1952, then Gorham State Teachers’ College in 1961. From there, he began his teaching career in Stonington, Maine from 1961 to 1964, then Bath Junior High School until 1988. He enjoyed those years, always teaching industrial arts (shop) at 9th grade level, as well as varying coaching positions. In 1989, he and his sons began their own construction business.

Ron enjoyed all sports; both playing and coaching. He especially enjoyed all his ‘shop’ students, and their varied Christmas projects while in Bath. He was also a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert and wife Bert Peabody of Bath, ME.

Ron is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jane Homan Peabody of Bremen; his 3 sons, R. Scott & wife Sandy Peabody of Seattle, WA, Michael S. Peabody of Woolwich, ME, and Jeffrey Peabody of West Bath, ME; his brother, Merrill (Doc) & wife Jan Peabody of Greene, ME; as well as three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
