FREEPORT — Mary L. (Horton) Brown, 98, of Freeport, died March 14, at the Hawthorne House.
She was born July 9, 1917, in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of Henry Horton and Maude Stephens. She attended schools in Michigan and Tucson, Arizona.
As a teen, Brown worked for her uncle at Acme Printing Co. in Tucson.
Brown married Myron L. Brown Sr. and the couple lived in Maine before he died in 1991 after 56 years of marriage.
Brown loved her family and her cats, and enjoyed sewing and dancing.
She was predeceased by a son, Myron L. Brown Jr, of Portland, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Hemingway, of Freeport; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Brown; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Private services will be held at The Raymond Village Cemetery in Raymond.
