Sophia Houle, 7, has gotten used to attending classes at Springvale’s Carl J. Lamb School via robot.

According to a report on WCSH6.com, the first-grader who has Biliary Atresia recently attended a field trip to the Portland Science Center thanks to Snowball, a robot she controls through an iPad.

Sophia underwent a liver transplant when she was 10 months old. Her body has recently been rejecting the organ so her mother, Angela Houle, says being around other children is not an option. The family learned about the robot technology through Grahamtastic Connection.
