MADAWASKA (AP) — The police department in a small northern Maine town has caused an Internet sensation with a tongue-in-cheek offer to help someone who “lost” a bag of marijuana in a pharmacy.

The Madawaska police post has been viewed more than 100,000 times on Facebook since Sunday. The post says: “If you’ve lost a baggie of marijuana at the Rite Aid store, please give us a call. We would like to speak with you.”

WMTW-TV reports the small bag contained two marijuana buds and was found by an employee near the store’s register.

No one has come forward to accept the police’s offer so far. The police department says the post was meant to be taken lightly.
