
As a young man Harland worked in Boothbay at his family’s ship yard and after his service in the US Army he worked as a caretaker at Squirrel Island. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Harland married Louise Lent on July 4, 1980 and she predeceased him on April 14, 2015.
Harland is survived by a brother Clifton Rice, a sister Janice Grant as well as nieces and nephews.
Harland was predeceased by his brothers; Gordon, Lewis, John, Weston, and Preston (Skipper), his sisters Betty Rice and Barbara Brooks.
Harland’s family wishes to thank the staff at Coastal Shores for the care they gave to both Harland and his wife as well as Chan’s Hospice for their compassion and support.
Donations in Harland’s memory may be made to an animal shelter of your choosing. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, 155 Bath Rd.
