BOSTON (AP) — Demonstrators protesting for workers’ rights in Boston blocked parts of Commonwealth Avenue and MBTA trolley tracks before Boston University campus police cleared the area.
The Boston Globe reports BU campus police officers responded to reports of the protest around 2: 26 p. m. Thursday.
The protesters were advocating for the rights of adjunct professors at BU and a $15 minimum wage for retail and fast food workers. No arrests were made.
The demonstration was organized by university professors and the Service Employees International Union Local 509. They were joined by protesters affiliated with the Fight for $15 national grassroots movement.
MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan says protesters moved on when police arrived. Minor delays were reported along the Green Line’s B Branch.
