CAPE ELIZABETH — The Kennebunk girls lacrosse team opened the 2016 season strong as the Rams cruised to a 17-1 win over Fryeburg Academy on Friday afternoon.
The Rams were led by Jenny Bush with five goals and one assist and Kyra Schwartzman with three goals and three assists.
Kennebunk would also get three goals and one assist from Liv Sandford and two goals each from Kristen Koch and Katy Ross.
Erin Gorton finished with one goal and one assist and Molly Parent chipped in with a score.
The Rams also played “very strong defense,” according to Kennebunk coach Annie Barker.
Kennebunk will play several scrimmages next week before returning to regular season action on Wednesday, April 27.

The Kennebunk Rams opened the season with a win over Fryeburg Academy.
Kennebunk was led by Donovan Connor with seven goals and two assists and Cam Lovejoy with five assists and two goals.
The Rams also got two goals and two assists from both Brendan Written and Dante DeLorenzo. Cam Connor added two assists and one goal and Tripp Bush chipped in with one goal and one assist.
Cole Dickinson stopped 12 shots in net for Kennebunk.
Softball Well s 12, Cape El izabeth
The Warriors opened the 2016 campaign with a win over Cape Elizabeth on Thursday.
Anya Chase was strong in the circle for Wells as she struck out nine batters in the win.
Chase and Olivia Clay each went 5-for- 5 to lead the Warriors’ offense in the win.
Sam Bogue and Chase each had three RBIs for the Warriors.
