EPPING, N.H. (AP) — Police say a 14-hour manhunt for a registered sex offender implicated in a domestic disturbance in southeast New Hampshire has ended with an arrest.
Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Lemear was taken into custody Tuesday after Epping officers spotted him walking down Spur Road around 12:30 p.m.
Police say Lemear fled into the woods Monday wearing only a shirt and pajama bottoms after he fired two shots in a home around 10:30 p.m. Officers combed a 3-acre area near Old Nottingham Road for Lemear, who they considered “armed and dangerous.”
Lemear will be arraigned Wednesday on charges of reckless conduct and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The Epping man was convicted of burglary and felonious sexual assault in October 2009.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
