Jordan Betts drilled a double to the gap in right-center field to score Jake Romanski and the Portland Sea Dogs (6-8) walked-off with a 1- 0 Eastern League win over the Trenton Thunder (7-6) in front of 5,033 fans Wednesday afternoon at Hadlock Field.
Betts picked up his fourth RBI in his third career Double-A start on his game-winning hit off of Matt Tracy. The walk-off win is the first for Portland since Aneury Tavarez hit a walk- off home run against Harrisburg on July 30, 2015. The Sea Dogs finished the homestand 3- 4 combined against Trenton and Hartford.
Teddy Stankiewicz went six innings for Portland on four hits and six strikeouts. Luis Ysla earned his first career Double-A win with a hitless ninth inning. He issued two walks, but with runners on first and second and one out, Ysla induced a ground ball from Jose Rosario that the Sea Dogs turned into a double play. Williams Jerez also pitched two scoreless innings of relief and allowed two hits while walking one and striking out two.
The Sea Dogs have today off, then begin a four-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats at Hadlock Field where Hartford will be the home team due to their home ballpark still being under construction. Friday night’sgameisa6p. m. start.
