Morse took advantage of six Erksine Academy errors en route to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference season-opening 8-6 win on Friday.

Hope Faulkingham was 3-for-4 for the Shipbuilders (1-0), including a home run and four RBIs in the win. Mikayla Rose doubled and singled, Micailah Albertson singled twice, and Marissa Parks and Sierra Wallace each singled.

Parks was solid on the mound in tossing a complete game. She struck out six, walked 10 and allowed three hits. Only four balls reached the outfield.

Mallory Chamberlain, Amber Grady and Lydia Boucher picked up two hits each for the 0-1 Eagles.

Alexis Couverette tied the game in the seventh inning with a three-run homer and won it with a walk-off hit in the ninth as the host Rams (2- 0) prevailed over the Eagles, who fell to 0-2 and visits rival Brunswick today at 4 p.m.

Mt. Ararat led 8-4 in the sixth and 11-8 in the seventh.

Laura Secone was 3-for-4 with three singles for the Eagles, while Kayleigh Temple, Kate Guerin Zoe Stilphen and Katelyn Cox each singled and doubled. Temple drove in four runs, while Cox had two RBIs. Also at the plate for Mt. Ararat, Belle Benner singled twice and Kelsey Scannevin scored three runs.

The Rams received four hits from Delaney Keithley, while Sudsbury scored three runs and had three hits.

BRUNSWICK 0

SKOWHEGAN 26

Skowhegan erupted for 22 runs in the first two innings en route to a KVAC win on Friday.

The Dragons dropped to 0- 2 and hosts Mt. Ararat today at 4 p.m.

Sydney Ames, who scored four runs, belted three doubles and drove in seven runs, as well as picking up the mound win for Skowhegan. Wylie Bedard added four hits, while sister Eliza Bedard contributed with three hits, including a double.

Margaret Dickinson collected Brunswick’s only hit with a second inning double, while Allie Eck walked twice and stole two bases for the Dragons.
