CAPE ELIZABETH — The Kennebunk basketball team fell behind early and couldn’t rally as Cape Elizabeth held on for a 6-1 win over the visiting Rams.

Cape Elizabeth scored two runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI single and a suicide squeeze.

Kennebunk’s Eric Aiken would hold Cape Elizabeth scoreless over the next four innings, but the Rams’ offense couldn’t figure out Cape left-hander Nate Ingalls.

Cape Elizabeth added four runs, including a leadoff home run from Dylan Roberts, in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Aiken would finish with eight strikeouts, while allowing just five hits, three hit batters and two walks. Three of the Capers’ runs were unearned.

Leadoff hitter Derek Smith led Kennebunk with three of the Rams’ four hits. Zander Kosmala had the other hit as he drove in the Rams only run with a triple in the sixth inning.

Kennebunk will host Falmouth today.

The homestanding Capers used a seven-run fourth inning to pull away from the Rams.

Brittney Gregoire led Kennebunk with a double, single and RBI.

Kennebunk will host Falmouth this afternoon.
