From the Journal Tribune: “A pair of Democratic candidates have thrown down the gauntlet for U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe’s seat in the November election. The two Democrats who debated on Monday will first have to vie with one another in the June 13 primary for the nominee however. In the Press Dining Room of the J. Richard Martin Center, the two hour debate was sponsored by Biddeford and Saco City Democrats organization.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “The Ogunquit Woman’s Club closed its activities for the season with a buffet luncheon at Exeter Inn, Exeter N.H., attended by 37 members and guests. Entertainment was provided by ‘The Chasonnettes’ a group of wives from Pease Air Force Base, Newington, N.H., who presented a program of ballad music covering the period from the early 1900s to the present time.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The contractors who are working on the highway jobs on the Portland road in Saco have lost several lanterns lately that have been stolen from places where they have been placed for the safety of travelers. The stealing of lanterns leaves dangerous places unlighted or insufficient lighted and bad accidents may result.”
