I write to support Everett “Brownie” Carson’s candidacy for State Senate district 24. Although I have only just met him, I have been an admirer for many years. I believe that Mr. Carson has the right mix of experience, knowledge and energy to represent our area superbly.
Mr. Carson, who raised his children here and has a granddaughter in Brunswick schools, is enthusiastic about improving educational and employment opportunities for all of our citizens. A Vietnam veteran, he is dedicated to making sure our government fulfills its responsibilities to the men and women who have served our country. A former attorney for Pine Tree Legal Assistance, he is well aware of the challenges that low income citizens face in trying to better their lives. He is committed to moving our state in a positive, forward-looking direction.
As the former Executive Director of the Natural Resources Council of Maine, Mr. Carson has deep experience working with the Legislature, industry, and private citizens to improve the quality of life for all Mainers. The several decades he spent working in Augusta make him extraordinarily qualified to be an influential and respected Senator immediately upon election.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
