The Morse High School girls lacrosse team scored the first two goals of the second half to break a 3-3 deadlock in a 7-5 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Oceanside on Thursday in the season-opener for both teams at McMann Field.
The 1-0 Shipbuilders have a quick turnaround, hosting Camden Hills today at 5 p.m.
Amanda Gagne, Maddy Olsen and Isabelle Paulus each tallied two goals for Morse, while Noa Sreden picked up a goal. Gagne and Paulus each dished out two helpers.
In goal, Sophie Wilson had five saves on 12 Oceanside (0- 1) shots.
Abbey Lacasse, Sierra Beal and Sydney Hall had two goals apiece for the Mariners, while netminder Samantha Berry had five saves on 18 Shipbuilders attempts.

Chloe Davidson struck for three goals as the Falcons won their Western Maine Conference home opener and improved to 1-1.
Courtney Broderick added a pair of goals and dished out eight assists for Freeport, which visits Yarmouth on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
McKenna Gerchman and Hannah Frye picked up two goals for Fryeburg Academy (0-2).

Host Mt. Ararat fell to 0-2 with a KVAC loss to 1-0 Messalonskee in Topsham.
Ally Turner had four goals for the visitors, while Lauren Pickett had the hat trick. Lydia Dexter, Riley Field and India Languet added two goals apiece, with Messalonskee’s scoring finished off by RaeAnn DeRaps.
Goals for Mt. Ararat came from Emily Welch with two and Shannon Harty with one.
Eleanor Skinner and Casi Perow shared the net for the hosts. Messalonskee had Sydni Collier minding the net.
Mt. Ararat visits Lewiston this upcoming Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Baseball
AUBURN — Gavin Bates struck out nine batters and scored the winning run in the fourth inning as St. Dom’s squeezed past Lisbon 2-1 in a Mountain Valley Conference game Thursday.
The Saints broke open the game in the fourth when Bobby Shelley singled and moved to second on a throwing error. Shelley scored when Bates singled. Bates came home with the winning run on a suicide squeeze by catcher Justin Keaney.
The Greyhounds got a run in the sixth inning. Lisbon’s Austin Fournier and Nick Lorette each had two hits.
Lisbon hosts Mt. Abram today at 4 p.m.
