SPRING HILL, Fla. — Phillip P. Woodward, 71, formerly of Waterboro, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at his home in Spring Hill, Florida.
He was born in Saco on March 17, 1945, a son of the late Elmer and Pauline Woodward. He attended local schools, graduated from Sanford High School, and served with the Air National Guard.
For many years, he was part owner of Smith & Woodward Body Shop on Main Street, Waterboro. He then moved to the Bradenton, Florida, area, where he raised his son, worked and owned a Texaco Station.
In 2006, he moved to Spring Hill, Florida, staying busy by volunteering to mow the city green, fussing with his beautiful lawn and gardens and, in recent years, restoring his 1963 Volkswagen Beetle.
Phil loved racing, whether it was stock cars in his earlier years or NASCAR in his later years. He also had a great knowledge of antiques.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and a brother, Terence Woodward, in 2011.
Phillip is survived by: his son, Daniel Sergile of New York; three sisters, Diana Hill of Hollis, Kathleen Leighton and her husband Wesley of Waterboro and Spring Hill, and Brenda Williams of Spring Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be at a later date.
