Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy will go on the disabled list with a hairline fracture in his left foot, an injury that is expected to keep the club’s Gold Glove shortstop out approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

The club will likely recall utility man Ryan Flaherty to fill his roster spot.

Flaherty, who is 8 for 19 in five games with Triple-A Norfolk, wouldn’t have served the mandatory 10 days in the minors following an option, but he can be recalled earlier if it is part of a disabled list move.

DODGERS: Pitcher Josh Ravin, 28, was suspended for 80 games following a positive test under Major League Baseball’s drug program.

Ravin is the eighth player suspended this year under the big league program and the fourth in three weeks. He tested positive for Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 2 (GHRP-2).

REDS: Catcher Devin Mesoraco went on the 15-day disabled list after an MRI detected a torn labrum in his left shoulder. It’s the second straight year he’s suffered a significant injury, missing most of last season with a hip injury that required surgery.

TWO-TIME NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum will pitch for major league clubs in a showcase event Friday as he attempts to make a comeback bid from hip surgery last year.

The 31-year-old Lincecum underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his hip Sept. 3. He hopes to pitch for a big league team this season.

BRAVES: Last-place Atlanta has reshuffled its roster to boost a punchless lineup.

Right-hander Mike Foltynewicz was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to start the series opener against the Mets, and lost 4-1.

Infielder Reid Brignac, infielder/outfielder Chase d’Arnaud and outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo also were called up from Triple-A. Brignac was in the starting lineup vs. the Mets, batting sixth and playing second base.
