From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “The red memorial poppies, made by disabled and hospitalized veterans at the Togus Veterans Administration Center, will be distributed throughout Biddeford on Friday and Saturday, as Poppy Days are marked by the Tighe-Beaudoin-Farley Unit, American Legion Auxiliary in Biddeford. Proceeds are not only to honor the memory of the dead, but to assist the living.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “A man who gave his name as Alfred McVey said he had been an inmate of the old soldiers home at Togus, was put off the 6:30 train bound for Boston at the Eastern Station Wednesday evening, and was turned over by George H. Peper who took the man to the police station and charged him with intoxication. The sentence was suspended after hearing the man’s bout of bad luck.”
