He was born on October 30, 1923 in Westpoint Maine. Son of Lewis and Susan Wallace. He married Gloria Coffin on November 6,1946. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last November. They raised 6 children in Westpoint Maine in the house that he built. His wife Gloria still resides at their home.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Wallace of Westpoint, Granville Wallace Jr of Bath Me, Brenda Carlton and her husband Larry of Stetson Me, Becky Roberson and her husband Rick of Monterey Tennessee, Dudley Wallace of Westpoint, Eric Wallace and his wife Penny of Phippsburg Me, and Donald Wallace and his wife Keara of Bath Me. He is also survived by his four sisters Marita Doyle, Virginia Diggory, Margaret Gilliam and Rose Bowker. Along with several Grand Children, Great Grand Children and Great Great Grand Children. Also several Nieces and Nephews.
He was Predeceased by his father Lewis and Mother Susan Wallace and Brother David Wallace Sr
Granville was a WW 2 Navy Veteran. He joined the navy on June 6, 1943 and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1946 as machinist mate second class. He served all of his time on the USS Bunker Hill and was Awarded 12 campaign ribbons. He was at some of the well known battles of the Pacific, including The Mariana’s Turkey Shooot.Truk, Battle of the Philippine Sea. The invasion of Okinawa, where they were struck by two kamikaze which put the Bunker Hill out of Commission until the end of the war. When he got home from the war he built a new Lobster boat but it was destroyed by a Noreaster so he worked as an electrician at Bath Iron Works for ten years and lobstered part time. Then he was able to get back full time to what he loved Fishing. He enjoyed any type of commercial fishing. He went tuna fishing, ground fishing with his son Granville Jr, tub trawling, tending mackerel pound but his favorite was lobstering. He held a lobster license for 70 years. He attended Westpoint school until his love of the sea called him there. He was a dedicated family man and loved spending time with family. Sunday dinners were big at the Wallace family home . He enjoyed telling stories of his days in the Navy and history of the families of Westpoint and most of all the love of fishing. Just last month he was in the National Fisherman Magazine with his son and grandson. Three generations of Lobstermen. He has left a legacy that his family will treasure.

A celebration of his life will be June 4th 2016, at noon at the kelp shed on Hermit Island.
