TUESDAY’S OPENING DAY of the farmers market on the Brunswick Mall may have been cloudy, but it didn’t keep 3-year-old Esme Kottke of Brunswick from taking time to smell the fresh-cut spring flowers at the Keough Family Farm stand while her mother, Caitlin, checked out the baked goods. Caldwell Jackson, an economic development specialist with the Maine Department of Agriculture, was on hand to meet local farmers. Jackson said he spends a lot of time on the road greeting vendors at farmers markets. He said the turnout in Brunswick on Tuesday was encouraging for a first day opening in early May.
