BATH — On Friday, Patten Free Library will offer the first of four weekly iPad “ mini- lessons” that focus on apps and websites for readers. All five sessions are free, open to anyone with at least an iPad 2 or iPhone 5 with the latest operating system ( iOS 9.3.1) installed. Sessions will be held on Friday mornings from noon to 1 p.m. in the Library’s second floor Community Room. Participants may bring a bag lunch to eat while they learn. The May 6 session, “Zinio.” is a full review of how to access, browse, and download periodicals from the Library’s new on-line collection. Participants should arrive with the Zinio app installed on their device and an active library card.
The subsequent sessions include instruction on: the Overdrive Media Console app (May 13), which allows patrons to borrow, download, read, and listen to eBooks and eAudiobooks available through the Maine InfoNet Download Library ; the Kindle app (May 20), which also provides access to the library’s eBook collection; and Open Library and the Internet Archive (May 29).
