Deeper Well Church events

Deeper Well Church will hold a Bean Supper from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the church, 90 Northeast Road (Route 35), Standish. Donations. The church will also hold a Community Yard Sale and Fundraiser, Saturday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Books, plants and beans

The Steep Falls Library will hold a bean supper from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Three kinds of beans, including a vegetarian option, will be availabe along with red and brown hot dogs, salads, cole slaw, mac & cheese, American chop suey, rolls, corn bread, brown bread, beverages and home made pies. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Friends of the Steep Falls Library will hold its annual Book and Plant Sale Saturday, May 14, and Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. House plants, annuals, perennials and vegetable seedlings will be available. Bring the whole family and make sure to visit the Kid’s Table for the pot decorating and planting activity. Plant donations are gladly accepted and can be dropped off at the library, 1128 Pequawket Trail. Support your local library as you add to your book and plant collection.

Garden club meeting

Grandiflora will hold its annual meeting with lunch Thursday, May 12, at DiSanto’s Restaurant in Gray.

Trip to the Lyric Theater: Spamalot

Depart from the Standish Municipal Center at 12:15 p.m., Sunday, May 22, to see a matinee performance of “Spamalot” at the Lyric Music Theater in South Portland. The musical recounts the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in true inimitable Monty Python style. The return time is slated for 5 p.m. The cost is $26.

Markets’ opening

Local vendors will be at the Steep Falls Library for a Farmers Market and Artisans Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning May 14. Produce, meats, canned goods, honey, jams, jellies, pickles, crafts, jewelry, pottery, Avon products and more will be available.

The Farmers Market opens Saturday, May 14, at the Steep Falls Library.
