ALFRED — Doris J. Caron, 81, of Alfred, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on April 3, 1935, to Wilfred and Doris (Richardson) Marchand in Sanford, where she grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1953.

In 1983, she married Maurice G. Caron, and they shared almost 30 years of marriage until he passed away in 2012.

During her working life, Doris was a cashier at several department stores, including King’s, Richard’s and Stuart’s, all in Biddeford. She also worked for Meals on Wheels in her later years.

Throughout her years, Doris was a resident of Lyman, Kennebunk and Alfred. Some of the things that she enjoyed were candlepin bowling, dancing and traveling; she visited Germany and Arizona. Doris was a loving woman who was devoted to her family.

She is survived by: five sons, Steven Adjutant, Michael Adjutant and his wife Elizabeth, Gordon Adjutant and his wife Mary, Richard Adjutant and his wife Martha, and Timothy Adjutant; two daughters, Sheryl Riley and Mary Pilon and her husband John; 13 grandchildren; 28 greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a sister, Margaret Shaw.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; a son, Todd Adjutant; a brother, Bernard Millington; and sisters June Porell, Mary Beckley, Marjorie Hanks and Eva Lavertu.
