Piping plovers have begun nesting and laying their eggs on Scarborough beaches, according to Ryan Wynne, the town’s beach monitoring coordinator. So far, nests have been found on Western Beach and on Pine Point, south of Snowberry Park, he said.
Wynne asked that visitors be aware of the staked-out plover protection areas and keep ther pets leashed and at least 200 feet away from any plover nesting sites.
He also reminded people that dogs are not permitted on Western Beach from April 1 through Sept. 30 each year.
