Westbrook police arrested a homeless man for stabbing another man and fleeing from police.
Jeffrey Young, 49, was arrested Saturday at about 7:40 p.m. for aggravated assault and failure to submit to arrest following a disturbance on Stroudwater Street near Main Street.
Police said Patrol Officer Benjamin Hall was on a routine patrol when he came upon three adults, one who was bleeding from his arm and another man was holding a knife.
Hall ordered Young, who was holding the knife, to stop but Young fled. Hall and Officer Jacqueline Lorenzen found Young a short distance away, arrested him and recovered the knife.
Police are investigating the cause of the disturbance.
The wounded man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening knife wound, police said.
