SailMaine is offering a wide range of youth classes this summer, and whereas some emphasize competition, others focus on recreation.

“Lil’ Luffers,” for instance, is aimed at the very young; “Optimists” is for 9- to 12- year-olds with varying experience levels; the Laser Racing Team is designed for serious, competitive sailors; High School Prep helps athletes in grades 8-9 gain a competitive edge as the High School season approaches.

SailMaine has plenty of options for adults as well, including Friday Night Socials. Interested parties don’t necessarily need to own their own equipment, as rentals are available.

SailMaine is a non-profit based in Portland that serves kids and adults from across southern and central Maine. The organization is online at sailmaine.org and www.facebook.com/SailMaine/. They can also be reached at 207-772-7245.
