TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh grade softball team picked up two wins in recent action.
At Auburn on Thursday, the Eagles collected 11 hits, led by Ema Hawkes, Hannah Huston, Jaimey Weidner and Kassidie Doble each with two hits, in a 19-5 win.
Mt. Ararat scored eight runs in the first inning. Auburn came back with two in the second, but Mt. Ararat responded again with seven more runs in the top of the third to assume control.
Hannah Huston and Lauren Magno combined to allow four hits with two strikeouts. Breanna Hunter came on to throw a shutdown inning in the final frame, striking out two.
Eagles first baseman Hannah Huston caught a line drive and turned into a double play. Mt. Ararat’s defense was solid, highlighted by Hawkes, Jaimey Weidner and Magno.
