I am recommending that Democrats cast their ballots in the primary for Diane Denk at the June 14 election.
Never one to sit on the sidelines, Diane Denk has over 45 years of political and business experience. After getting a BA and a MS from Loyola University of Chicago, Denk became a VP of a large brokerage firm.
After 25 years in business, she earned a master’s degree in teaching and became a special education teacher, a job she currently holds in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. As everyone knows, special education professionals need patience, fortitude and dedication – all qualities that can serve her well in the state Legislature.
Denk chaired the Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Democratic Committee (and proudly notes that for the first time since the 1800s, Kennebunk is Democrat!), the York County Democratic Committee, served for the past eight years on the Maine State Democratic Committee and chaired its Outreach and Diversity subcommittee.
She worked to help pass Same Sex Marriage in Maine and Same Day Voter Registration. She served on both the Obama and Michaud finance and field operations, and is a graduate of Emerge Maine.
Denk is the secretary of the NAACP, works with York County Shelters, hospice, conservation, Maine Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, and organizes drives for active military and homeless veterans. Diane was vice chair and public member of the Maine Board of Dental Examiners, and serves on ADEX, a national dental board.
This month, Denk won the Triple Crown at the Democratic State Convention: She was selected as the Democratic national committeewoman representing Maine, as well as one of four presidential electors, and as a delegate to the national convention.
She and her husband, Roger Hansen, have three sons, four grandchildren and two pups, and live in Kennebunk.
Diane is a strong advocate for struggling families, improving the quality of education, attracting and retaining small businesses which will provide good jobs, aiding seniors to allow them to remain in their homes, finding clean energy sources, and protecting the resources of this beautiful state. She has earned our vote!
